In the bike trade since leaving school, Jack joined Cooperb as an apprentice mechanic & attended Bedford College. There he passed all his NVQ diploma level 1,2 & 3 exams with distinctions. In addition, Jack (along with Pete) was one of the first UK mechanics to attend the UK Technical training for the latest Royal Enfield machines. With a strong understanding of how the bikes work, Jack then went on to work in the sales department. After finding his feet in this role, he set off to work for BMW selling bikes, which he did for a year before coming back into the family fold. Jack’s role now comprises a bit of everything but mostly on the sales side. Jack understands our customer’s wants & needs and can relate to wanting a bike that is nice enough to make you yearn to ride it.

Jack says “I’m really happy to have a job that combines work with my passion for bikes. I love riding & often we get to ride in groups with our customers which I really enjoy. One of the most satisfying things is when a customer who buys a bike from us, says months later how much they are enjoying it. To me, it’s all about having the right bikes & listening to our customers.”

But his motorcycle adventure started in summer 1980 when Pete & two of his pals secretly bought a Yamaha DT175 & travelled from Bedford to Brogborough BY TRAIN & then hid it in the shed. Then all summer, the boys would leave home early telling parents they were going to homework class! Instead, they would spend each early morning whizzing around the fields surrounding Brogborough!

(Think “On Any Sunday”, but Bedfordshire not California!)

An eye for detail & a fan of learning new things are just two reasons why Pete commands such respect.

“Even after all this time, I still enjoy the work. There’s always something new & bikes have changed massively since I started. But whatever the bike, I still get lots of satisfaction out of doing this. I enjoy the challenge of learning new stuff & I also get to meet lots of great new people..!”
