During the summer of 1989, Ian Cooper & others would practise on his Motocross bike in Wellingborough. There was often a crowd of local kids that would come & line the circuit waiting for us to go, and then they would take to the track on their own field bikes. Often Honda C90’s or old Yamaha DT50’s etc and these kids were having a whale of a time.
One in particular was faster, crazier and much shyer than the rest.
This particular shy kid was James Berrill. After a fortnight of work experience working with Ian at Midas Motorcycles, the two forged an alliance that lasts to this day & Ian has never worked anywhere since that hasn’t employed James.
Ian Cooper said “As soon as I met James, I recognised something in him & have watched him turn from a shy kid to the man he is today. All his championships, all his trophies come from his work ethic, and I’m delighted Cooperb benefits from just that.”
James says “I’ve been in the bike trade since 1991 and to this day I still love it!
Working on new bikes/models is always nice, gaining new knowledge and experience of them and new products and even the accessories is always good.
I’ve met some of my best friends through being involved with bikes (and racing) for the best part of 30 years and to be working with some of them for as long as I have is a gift!
It never feels like (just) a job – and this shows in the service we provide as a dealership.”
